sawyer's room

we've been shifting rooms like crazy around here, and my main project lately has been trying to put the boys' rooms together!

since moving the girls downstairs, i decided to put sawyer in their old room. i really didn't have a lot of money to spend so i had to make due with what i had and i love how it turned out!

let me remind you of the paint job before...

definitely not suitable for a growing little man! (although i have to admit that i was REALLY sad to see those fun scallops go!)

so on tom's last trip up to idaho to visit his dad, he swiped some vintage license plates from him and i've been dying to get them hung on the wall!

holy cow, i'm in LOVE!

also, my parents had a spare dresser sitting in their basement that i snagged. my original plan was to paint it a really bright red, but after a crappy paint job (thanks to me) tom started sanding it and i actually liked the look of it better!

i also wanted to add something over his crib and had some frames lying around, so i spray-painted them black and then printed out his name in different fonts on fun paper. super easy!

the new baby's room is almost done and i'll post some pics once it is!

p.s. i'm looking for a changing pad to put on top of the dresser (i've never had a dresser low enough to change my babies on before). if there's anyone looking to get rid of theirs please let me know! (i don't need a cover for it, just the pad)

p.p.s. does anyone else HATE bloggers new posting format as much as i do?

forcing bulbs & randomness

are you like me where you hate the long winter months after the fun of christmas has worn off? one thing that always cheers me up during that time is to force some tulips to grow in glass container.

it's really easy to do but takes awhile to get them going so if you want to do try this you'll have to get started now!

buy a bag of any kind of bulb that you like (tulip, daffodil, etc.) and put the bag in the vegetable drawer of your fridge. i bought an 8 pack of tulips at walmart for $3. depending on how big of a container you want to grow them in, you may want to buy more.

leave them in the fridge for the next 12 weeks (yes i said 12!) and then i'll let you know what to do next!

in other random news, this white dove landed in front of my house yesterday and would not leave! he was seriously hanging out on my driveway for about 5 hours!

(if you know what my street name is then it makes this story kind of funny)

and finally, i really love this kid but he is wearing me out!

more changes...

my tommy h. had 10 days off and man oh man did i put him to work!

one of the things i have been putting off forever is redoing our bedroom. i bought this bedding back in march but we just haven't had a chance to paint until this wekk.

sorry, no current "before" pictures. although you can go here if you're really interested.

not too different. just new bedding, paint color {thanks for the help mom!} and switched out the pictures and frames above the bed.

i went out on limb and decided to try out some orange pillows i had laying around.

i'm kind of digging the gray and orange together.

thoughts? am i out of my mind?

also, our hockey table is still available if anyone might be interested!

she popped!

the family was taking bets on who would pop first... the butterfly or me!

guess she won.

the kids got to hold 'buttercup' while her wings dried!

my nephew, chayden, chose a different way to help her dry off...

can't wait to do this again next year!
