dream kitchen

ever since we moved into this house, i've wanted to paint my kitchen cabinets gray. but after two weeks straight of renovating the rest of the house and having a mini-meltdown, i hastily painted them black.

well, i've decided that once i pop this baby out, i fully intend to fulfill that dream!

this kitchen is my inspiration (from this month's "better homes & gardens"). i absolutely love the color!

(sorry, i totally scanned these pictures... not the best quality)

can you picture it? thoughts?

the grass is always greener...

when you didn't have grass before!

unfortunately i didn't take a "before" picture of our yard, but basically it was dirt that had been overrun by morning glory and other weeds.

well, we finally got our sod in and it looks lovely!

swimming lessons

saturday was "parent day" at miss' swimming lessons which meant we got to see how much she's learned this session. i can't believe how much she's improved in two weeks! the first time she went, jeff (her teacher), had to literally chase her around the yard to get in the pool and for the first couple of lessons she screamed and cried the whole time. but by saturday she was all smiles!

jeff really is an amazing teacher... it's not too late to get your kids enrolled if you're interested! check out their site here.

new rooms

i've finally got the kids' rooms all put together after the big rearrange of getting elliot settled in a bed.

i know that the initials above the girls' beds are a bit "bert & ernie" but i still thought they were cute.

as for the baby's room... i've got a project i've been thinking about, but for now there's not much in there. basically his crib, a dresser and an ikea chalkboard easel.

two!

elli turned two yesterday! with me being 8 months pregnant and the fourth of july being the next day, i wasn't too in the mood for throwing a big party, but after checking out this blog i was feeling a little inspired.

basically i rounded up all my red fourth of july decorations (and a few valentine's day ones) and then made these cute cupcake toppers.

i love the way it turned out!

happy birthday, ellers! we love ya!
